What PEAR does
Live iMessage and text alerts
PEAR reads iMessages and texts as they arrive on the family Mac and sends near-instant alerts about possible self-harm, grooming, sextortion, bullying, drugs, scams, secrecy and plans to meet strangers.
Photos and videos, not just words
Photos and videos are scanned for inappropriate content.
Safari and Notes
Browsing history and Notes are reviewed for risky searches, concerning plans or secrets.
Full conversations
See everything if you want, but the AI shows you just what matters. Threads are searchable by chat and date, with contact names.
Relationship ratings
PEAR's AI rates each relationship, for example Supportive or Healthy, so you can see at a glance what may need attention.
Insights
A messages-over-time chart and a short summary of each relationship's dynamic. It's context for a conversation, not a judgment.
PEAR's Monitoring Health page shows each source's status, such as Working or Needs attention, and tells you how to fix it. Have more than one child? A child picker lets you switch between them. Alerts are signals to review, not conclusions, and PEAR can miss context, so keep checking in.

The AI works on your family Mac
All AI analysis runs locally on the family Mac, not in a company's cloud. The local AI runs through Ollama on your Mac. PEAR doesn't send your child's messages or media to Ollama's website.
On your Mac
Stored only on your Mac: messages, photos, videos, Safari history, Notes, and PEAR's findings.
On our servers
Stored on our servers: your account email, subscription status, your Mac's health status, and the Telegram chats that receive alerts. Your child's messages aren't stored on our servers.
Alerts
Alerts are sent through Telegram today, with text message alerts coming soon, and contain only a severity level and a link, never message text.
Phone review links
When you open a password-protected review link (valid for 7 days), the page is served from your Mac through PEAR's relay. That content passes through the relay without being stored.
No ads, no data sales, and no training on your family's data.
What PEAR doesn't cover
It doesn't cover Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord, TikTok, Chrome or other devices. AI can miss things or flag things that turn out fine, so PEAR supports your parenting and doesn't replace it.
Setup requirements
- A Mac signed in to your child's account and plugged in so PEAR can monitor live
- macOS permission for Full Disk Access
- Telegram for parents
- Child (minor) accounts the parent controls only
